PROWLING WITH GYPSIES
Words and Photos by Brian Purnell
Alright, so the history of Gypsy and the Cat is, if anything, short. Not even our old friend Wiki could help us out that much. But what we DO know is that these Melbourne DJ’s deserve a lot of praise considering what they have accomplished in a year. Their first performance was in London last year and they couldn’t believe the hype that soon followed. This electro pop group gained popularity and fans on Triple J’s unearthed, with regular airplay of such songs from their album ‘Gilgamesh’ like Jona Vark (No, it’s not Joan of Arc), The Piper Song and Time to Wander, which eventuated to them receiving a ‘J’ award nominee and two of their songs in the Hottest 100. We grabbed ourselves a media pass and decided to suss out their Palace Theatre gig and find out what the attraction was with Gypsy and the Cat. All the hype surrounding them has been justified.

This story was better when you already did it. Last year.

Thanks for pointing it out Joel, though the difference is that this is a photo piece. That is all.
