DESIGN A SINGLE COVER: BON IVER’S ‘CALGARY’
Words: Sarah Pratt
Single covers are a dying breed, some might say, so is print. Well, we disagree, and as part of our protest, we would like someone from the pool of creative folk to design a cover for Bon Iver’s new single ‘Calgary.’ The video for ‘Calgary’ is pretty darn rad and we feel that the design for the single’s cover should be too. So, if you’re a budding designer with a bit of spare time on your hands, then send us an original design for ‘Calgary’ using the clip below as inspiration, and a little something about why you decided to use ITC Avant Garde Gothic for your artistic creation. Or, not. You can include font in your design, but you don’t have to. Basically, you just need to make it look cool. We’ll post the best one next week and we’ll even give you a little treat for your efforts made. Entries must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org before the sun sets on Thursday, June 23rd. Good luck! May the force of typography be with you (please note that any Star Wars themed covers will have little to no chance of winning/we will ignore them).
Speaking of COVERS and BON IVER, below is Bon Iver’s cover of Bonnie Raitt’s classic song, ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me.’ It’s full of all kinds of musical goodness. So, enjoy!
