HAVE YOU EVER FAKED IT?
Words: Nick Melin
Of course we have! SPOOK is now digital, and we are excited to announce that our issue 5, ‘The American edition,’ was recently uploaded to the Fakeprint newsstand. So if you don’t have it, buy it there! And watch this space for information on our upcoming issue which is well on its way. Yes, SPOOK issue 6 will be available in both hardcopy and digital formats.

So what is Fakeprint you ask? Well we recently caught up with one of its owners, Adam, to help explain it to you.
SPOOK: What is Fakeprint?
Adam: Australia’s first niche iPad newsstand. We deliver content from harder to find ‘cool’ magazines, such as SPOOK on the iPad. So you can pretty much take your library wherever you go. We are growing our library constantly. We have recently found a few new ones from the UK and USA, so look out for them!
SPOOK: When did you guys launch?
Adam: We’ve been working on this idea since late 2010. We finally got into the app store November of last year. Big relief.
SPOOK: Was it a good night at the Ivy? Any stories?
Adam: Our launch party at the Ivy Penthouse was too much fun. We had a good turnout, way too much food and good alcohol. After all the hard work getting the app together, it was nice to celebrate and let our hair down. I wish we didn’t have to leave the penthouse. Stories? They are better left untold.
SPOOK: How many titles you got?
Adam: So far we have 8 in the store ready to be sold. But we have another 10 or so that we’re waiting to get off publishers. So watch this space.
SPOOK: When did SPOOK hop on board?
SPOOK jumped on board around November last year, and we’re glad we can provide it to our customers!
SPOOK: Are those guys alright?
Adam: The SPOOK boys are a lot of fun. They can party hard let me tell you that much! They also throw awesome parties. The last SPOOK warehouse party was slamming. Fair to say the head hurt quite a bit the next day.
SPOOK: What makes Fakeprint better than lining up at the newsagent?
Adam: Well you can buy a magazine via our app anywhere. You can be in your lounge room, and if you want to view the latest SPOOK magazine, but can’t be bothered getting up (personally, I find this to be very true), all you need to do is press the buy button and it’s yours.
SPOOK: How do you access Fakeprint?
Adam: It’s very easy. Search fakeprint in the app store on your iPad and that’s it. Our app is free to download.
SPOOK: When is your next party?
Adam: We’re hoping to have a Melbourne launch party soon. We’ll be sure to keep you all posted! Especially the SPOOK boys and girls.
